The Internet Police

It seems the United States Government has took it upon themselves to become our protectors from the evils of Internet piracy with the "Stop Online Piracy Act". Talking about this now is like beating a dead horse, many people oppose it for the reasons of it being to broad (like being able to shut down websites with any links to pirate sites)and afraid that many corporations and people will just use the law for there own personal gain. But not many people say there against the stopping of piracy in general {I like saying the word pirate...rrrrrr sorry I had to}. I think its a huge mistake to stop any kind of piracy, from the peoples stand point at least. mostly because piracy has made the record labels and movie makers see that maybe its not always good to cut open the goose that laid the golden eggs and what i meant by that is if people steal your movie and like it chances are they will buy it or see it in theaters. Or as with music torrent or listen to it on YouTube and go buy it. Even with the so called “rampant” use of sites like Pirate bay the music and movie industry is doing just fine,The movie industry barley lost anything with economy it the floor. Another thing is how many people download pirated music and movies, I would happen to guess all of us, every single person has listened to music on YouTube, watched a movie without buying the DVD or going to the movie theater. I know I have probably every day and does that make us bad people, no. Then why label us as criminals when you grandmother is probably in the next room listening to Bing Crosby to a slide show on YouTube. I digress this piracy act is most likely going to pass, I think it has something like 98 politicians supporting it {don't take that as truth because I'm not sure if it is}. But hopefully it doesn't and we can go back to watching our stolen cams and listening to our torrented music without the threat of the corporations and the government shutting down our favorite websites.
